Hi, I would like to create a SQL Query that displays policy information such as policy name, server name, window start time, window end time, whats being backed up, retention period, policy type and client os. I would like it to be arranged by policy name. I have been playing around a little but havent been able to get it to display all of this information.
I am looking for either a customized canned report or help with a SQL query to list clients and their associated policy(ies)
I think I am running into a problem because some of my policies are disabled and have no backup history. (For tracking of exempt from backup)
So it should look something like this:
server1 policy1
server1 policy2
server2 policy1
server2 policy2
server3 exempt
server4 policy3
I looked at using domain_policyClient, but it is missing data from the disabled policies.
Also looked at a Backup/Recovery Job/Image/Media/Disk with NoTimeBasis selecting Client and Policy Name, but again no data about disabled policies
I'm not very SQL savy so trying to figure out where to join all the info from tables domain_Client, domain_Policy, domain_MasterServer, domain_Entity makes my eyes crossed.

Any help would be appreciated

I have a catalog backup that will fail with code 160, retry, and the complete. This doesn't happen every day, it's more like every other day. The job does run everyday.
I have split the services up between 2 different service accounts to make sure it wasn't a windows single sign on error. I also have the DR file being stored in a different volume than the main catalog file. Both volumes have the everyone permission applied to them. At this point I'm at a loss as to why it fails every other day.
Hi folks,
I configured some server windows but showing error code 2074.
The issue occurred intermittence in sometimes.
Attached log bperror -disk in the master server.
Thanks for time
I just recently installed SP4 and the hotfix that was listed after the upgrade (215906).
Now every job fails even on the SBE server itself. I've updated the Agent on all servers and rebooted all just to be safe. Still nothing. Jobs either fail outright or get missed and placed on hold. As soon as I release the job, they either fail or go into the eternal spin "queued" until it places itself on hold.
Also, now when I try to view the errors from the Backup and Restore tab by clicking on the specific server's error, it errors out with: "The server was unable to complete the requested operation. Unknown reason: 2 BEMSDK Failure Code: 2:X8 Error: 2: The job log for this job may not be generated." The only way I can view the log error is to go into the specific server and click on Active Alerts, then I can review the error messages.

Group,
I am trying to determine if BE 2014 will do GRT backups of Exchange 2010 and also Exchange 2013.
Current environment:
Older server hardware to be retired later in the year.
Backup Exec 2012 v-ray edition / deduplication folder.
Exchange 2010 with GRT backups.
We have a current Sym support contract and I have the codes to install BE 2014.
Future environment:
New server, yet to be purchased.
Backup Exec 2014 v-ray edition / deduplication folder.
Exchange 2010 with GRT backups.
Exchange 2013 with GRT backups (after we build a new server and migrate to Exchange 2013).
The above SCL says this:
“To run Exchange 2010, the Backup Exec server must run on Windows 2008 SP2 or on a 64-bit Windows 2008 R2 computer on which the Exchange 2010 Management tools are installed.”
That means (to me) that I need 2008 on the new Backup Exec media server, not 2012. But elsewhere in the above SCL I will need 2012 on the media server and a domain controller to do GRT of Active Directory.
So should I put 2008R2 or 2012R12 on the new server, yet to be purchased?
Thanks all!
HI,
I have some issues with my GUI. Need to remove the storage unit which will be in Schedule tab in the policy. I tried checking in the path /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/admincmd/ bpschedulerep Policy_name -residence NA .
Importantly: i am not trying to change the storage unit in Schedule tab. Want to make it empty.
Any suggestions please.
Good morning,
One of my Windows team members is trying to upgrade a client from 7.6.0.1 to 7.6.0.2. When he attempts to do this, he gets an error message:
Most of our Windows clients are Windows 2008 R2 SP1. The NetBackup master server is RHEL 6.4.
We are upgrading our Windows clients from 7.1.0.3, to 7.6.0.1, to 7.6.0.2. We have tried installing 7.6.0.1 with 7.1.0.3 currently installed (and it says it will upgrade it). that seems to work fine, but 7.6.0.2 still will not install. So it's not working on a fresh install, or on an upgraded host.
I haven't found anything onlin yet about this issue... has anyone else experienced something like this? Wanted to ping here before opening a ticket.
Thanks in advance,
Susan
Hello,
after installing SP4 for BE2012 the server runs poorly. The jobs cannot access the devices properly. Restarting the services work for a short time. I think we have to open a call. We have the caso options installed... Anyone the same problems?
The situation is this - I have a Dell PowerEdge Server running Back-up Exec 12.5, doing daily, weekly, monthly backups (the production server).
I have a cloned Dell PowerEdge Server - exactly the same configuration (the Disaster Recovery server).
Both servers are able to read/write RDX removeable hard disk cartridges with 320GB capacity in native format (no compression).
To test my DR capability I am trying to restore some files/folders from the production weekly (Full) back-up disk to the clone server.
To achieve a restore on the clone server I have to go through these steps:
- Run an Inventory job on the removeable disk cartridge.
- Run a Catalogue job on the removeable disk.
- search the catalogue for the folders/files I want to restore.
- start a 'restore' job using the folders/files I've found in the catalogue.
Here's the problem:
Running the back-up on the production server takes about 6 hours (writes about 300GB of data).
Running the Catalogue job on the clone server takes over 24 hours.
Running the Restore job on the clone server, to restore about 6.5GB of data, ran for 16 hours and was only 10% complete - so it's going to take about 160 hours to restore 6.5GB of data!!
I'm a compete novice with Back-Up Exec - I MUST BE DOING SOMETHING WRONG. Can anybody outline for me the steps, switchs, flags, settings, I need to adjust to make this work?
Thanks in advance - Pete
There is an import option when you create a Deduplication Folder, but there appear to be many limitations to using this option. I found this while doing my research:
http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH160832
This article has not been updated for 2014, but Symantec support assures me the limitations still exist. During my migration I'm going from Windows Server 2008 R2 (with Backup Exec 2012) to Windows Server 2012 R2 (with Backup Exec 2014). It seems to be that wanting to do this will be a very common scenario among customers. Like many customers I'm also doing virtualization. The Technote isn't very clear about where the Agent for VMware and Hyper-V can't be installed. It can't be installed on the media server (that may have Hyper-V role installed)? It can't be installed on any server that is backed up by Backup Exec?
In any case that again will be a very common scenario. We really need full support for deduplication folders if we're expected to use them. We're on 2014 now and this isn't version 1 of deduplication folders.
To install NBAC in Windows cluster enviorment (NBU 7.6.0.2)
Puropose is to create this article to easily to install NBAC in Windows cluster enviorment. I faced lots of challenges & was fed up with the articles to
implement NBAC. Sharing my ideas to implement NBAC easily...
1 - Log in to Active Node
2 - Try bpnbaz -setup master on active node & Follow the Instuctions. If its fails there are several issues to troubleshoot that
(Ensure AZ services in stopped mode, before running this command. Becasue this service starts automaticlly when the command gets complete)
3 - Restart the Netbackup services on both the Nodes for safer side.
4 - Change REGEDIT (Use VXSS to REQIORED from AUTOMATIC)
5 - Log in to NBU Console go to Help, It will show Current NBAC User
6 - If User is not properly added, you can just run command bpnbat -login
7 - Open NBU Console, Check the Access management, Create Group, create New User & assign permissions.
8 - If suppose you are unable to open Access management Tab in NBU Console with error "You do not have access in access management".
Not to worry there is some binary issues in NBConsole, Go ahead & install Java Admin Console & access the Tab easily to adminster Access Management.
If you face any issues related issues to this, Surely will help you out with some ideas.
Hi there forum,
I've been having this issue for the last two months and have not been able to pin point the issue. Any suggestions/comments are welcomed.
Issue:
2-3 times a week one specific tape drive will be down'd by the netbackup application. It goes down and it also gets removed from the Device Manager on the master server. The only way to bring it backup is to reboot the tape library and then the NBU master server. This usually happens during a vault job, but only when one or more of the images are unable to be duplicated (for whatever reason) successfully. We have replaced the tape drive (Hardware) in our tape library and still continue to experience the problem.
Here is the error we get in the logs, which doesnt help much.
"Fatal open error on HP.ULTRIUM5-SCSI.002 (device 2, \\.\Tape3): The system cannot find the file specified. DOWN'ing it"
Let me know what Logs would help to troubleshoot this issue.
I would like to see if anyone out there has experienced the same problem or has any ideas on how to get to the bottom of this.
Thanks,
Luis S.
hello,
several days ago in the several daily incremental/full server/workstation backup entries we have, I de-selected first sending out job logs with the email notifications, then the email notifications entirely (by deselecting my recipient name entry) in an effort to stop receiving large MB-size job logs in my email which was causing some server download issues. However every night I'm still receiving the e-mail notifications w/ job logs? How do I get BE 2012 to actually stop sending me either job logs or email notifcations entirely?
Thanks!
David
Hey, those who are attempting to upgrade from BE 2012 to 2014 and get this error; see if one of the solutions in the following article help you resolve the inability to upgrade.
http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH216807 - Backup Exec server upgrade fails with V-225-53 or error code: -2067922409 when SQL Server 2008 R2 Express with SP2 fails to install
If not please post your comments here.
Thanks

I recently got our BE 2014 upgrade and I had a question about how to best upgrade my environment. We have a CASO server running BE 2010 R3 and an additional BE 2010 R3 MMS. Both servers are running Windows 2008 R2.
I would like to move my CASO to a new server running Windows 2012. However all the knowledge base articles I found don't seem to apply if you are changing the OS at the same time. So what's the best way to move a CASO to a new server with a different OS?
I guess I could install Windows 2008 R2 on the new server, Move the CASO, upgrade to BE 2014, and then finally upgrade the OS to Windows 2012. However this seems pretty messy and prone to errors. Is there a better way?
We use BackupExec 2012 Version 14.0.1798 (64bit) on Windows Server 2008R2.
Problem: Exchange-Backup (GRT): B2D always works fine. Copy to Tape is planned some hours after. Job writes data without error but verificacion ends with: "1032 The file cannot be accessed because the file is locked or in use". On the tape we find all data (about 400 GB).
Questions: What file cannot be accessed?

I had Backup Exec 2012 installed which had it's database pointed towards a remote SQL instance on my SQL server. I'm rebuilding the server. I'm pointing the new install to this existing instance. It errors stating that it is already in use by another Backup Exec. I stopped the services of that instance but still does n't work.
