we are getting error on Below RMAN Backup.. please suggest what is the issue with it and what can be done to resolve it..Thanks

Master Serve is Windows 2008,

Netbackup 7.5

client is Windows Windows 2003

Oracle 10G R1

A guide to booting HP Elitepad to recovery environment using USB flash drive

Hi,

Back in October 2013, a support case that I opened with Symantec in relation to failure of the Elitepad 900 G1 to boot into the Symantec recovery environment from a USB or DVD drive etc, was ultimately closed with no resolution due to a compatibility issue or similar.

I recently decided to pick this up again and am pleased to report a successful outcome but not without issues.

Here's what I did:

> Note: I have SP2 installed on my SSR client (Ver. 11.0.2.49853) but this is immaterial to process described below.

> Grabbed a copy of the latest 32bit recovery ISO (SSR11.0.2.49853_AllWin_English_SrdOnly.iso) from here: https://www4.symantec.com/Vrt/offer?a_id=88724

> Obtained and formatted thumb drive as FAT32 (I did not have to bother with the diskpart procedure that is referenced as required from several sources)

> Used WinZip to extract the contents of the ISO to the USB flash drive. Note: DO NOT use the Customer Recovery Disk wizard in the SSR 2013 client.

> That's it, plugged it in to one of 2 x USB sockets available on the Elitepad productivity jacket. (Note: if you don't have a jacket you might be in trouble having access to only 1 x USB port.

> A USB keyboard needs to be connected to the 2nd USB port as there is no touch panel functionality in the recovery environment. Note that If you wish to use a USB Ext Drive to store the recovery points, the USB Boot Flash drive can be safely removed once the environment is entered, allowing you to connect your USB Ext Drive.

> In Elitepad Advanced Startup options, selected USB EFI Boot Device option.

> Elitepad booted into recovery environment with navigation by keyboard thereafter (Some useful keyboard shortcuts are:- TAB to cycle the focus between objects; enter to select;  [space] to check/uncheck a checkbox; right arrow key to expand a file folder to show subfolder)

> Ripped a Windows 8.1 image from one Elitepad and then restored using this image to a factory state Windows 8.0 device with no issues whatsoever, just had to re-activate Windows after the restore. 

So anyway, the critical step in the process described above is to use WinZip or a similar archiving utility to get the ISO contents onto the flash drive because for some bizarre reason, if you use the Symantec Custom Recovery Disk wizard to burn the ISO, this causes all of the files on the flash drive to become hidden (even with "Show Hidden Files / Folders" checked in file explorer?) with the exception of autorun.inf. The problem appears to be that the Elitepad 900 GI apparently can't see these files because it does not recognise a flash drive prepared in this manner, as a valid EFI USB boot device. It seems unlikely that the Elitepad 900 is the only tablet that might be affected by this issue.

Hopefully this guide might save somebody some time at some stage.

VMware VM "needs consolidation" after backup failure

Has anyone else run into this issue?  VM backup fails with a "Status 13" or "Status 156" or "Status 40" - I have several hundred VMs and only a few end up in this state during a backup window.  No snapshots show up in Snapshot Manager on the VMs that have this error.  When consolidation is attempted VMware throws a "Unable to access file <unspecified filename> since it is locked" error.

The "fix" for us has been to run "services.sh restart" on the ESXi server - this unlocks the file - then manually consolidating the VM.

i take multiple backups of  file system on tape and each backup retention is two week. manually expire it first backup and check the use sapce on tape is remains the same.

Kindly guide me how i release its space after backup expire.

Changing Dedupe Data Stream Size

I need a solution

I am looking to get some baselines for the performance at each different data stream size. I just installed BE 2014 on Server 2012 Standard, and primarily back up VMWare VMs over 8Gb SAN transport. I am assuming the only pure way to do this is to create a deduplication disk storage, back up the VM, destroy the dedupe storage, rinse and repeat at every data stream size. If I already have a few backup sets in the dedupe storage, would it hurt to just change the data stream size, restart services, and then back up a VM at each size, or should I do as I said and completely recreate the dedupe storage every time I change the dedupe chunk size?

Restore to Solaris client in a Zone does complete but errors out with 'Standard Policy Restore Error' with missing files

Hello

We are trying to restore to Solaris 10 Client zone. 

When we restore the root path in the Windows GUI it doesn't restore everything (root file system )and errors out with 'Standard Policy Restore Error'

When we do a restore through the java GUI on the client (Host) to the zone on the host, the files more that 10 files have not been restored and seems to hang.

We also get Errno: 18 : Cross-Device 

Does anyone have any suggestions as the best way to restore a Solaris zone?

I need a solution

Hi,

I have a Dell Powervault 124T and run Backupexec v10d. Up until recently I could unlock slots by using the export function and then remove the tape manually. Now the job runs and runs but I no longer get the expected media intervention alert to remove media from the slot. When I go to the tapeloader to export I get an error because the slot is locked but if I reboot the lock disappears and I can remove the tape.

I read the article http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?pag... but it was no help to me.

Any ideas what might have changed in my config?

This link states that BESR 8.0x through SSR 2013 does not support drives larger than 16 TB in size.

And the link states that at this time, there is no solution of workaround.

 

 

 

So....when will Symantec provide a Patch or Upgrade to allow SSR 2013 Server version to  support drives larger than 16TB in size?

Netbackup duplication backup is getting fail with error code 191..

I need a solution

Hi,

Netbackup master server 7.5.0.6 and backup configured with windows client, 

backup configured with SLP as 1st copy to deduplication disk and 2nd copy duplication to tape with 2 differnt media server.

backup to deduplication disk is getting successful, but duplication to tape is getting fail with error code 191 with below error.

Please advise to fix this issue.

Hola con todos, tengo una duda. Estoy frente a una consola del Backup Exec 2012 en la pestaña almacenamiento, y veo que 5 de las ranuras (con cintas) tienen descripciones de color azul, y en la parte de "Protegido contra reemplazo hasta" esta Reemplazable. 3 de esas cintas tiene cerca de 20 GB, una tiene 1 TB disponible y la otra 200GB.

como hago para cambiar ese estado de "Reemplazable" de las cintas que aun tienen espacio disponible...

Duplicating 9940 to LTO4

I need a solution

Hi,

we need to duplicate a few hundred 9940 tapes to LTO4 media and am looking for the best and most efficient way to copy the tapes.

My other question is:

9940 are based on NBU 6.5 and this has to be duplicated to LTO4 based on NBU 7.6. Will there be any issues? 

I will be using vault. Is this the most efficient method? Also, what is the time estimate to complete about 100 tapes.

Hi there,

I'm using the catalog view in GUI to verify contents of media. I get this error on one of the media:

INF - Skipping backup id (clientname) there is no fragment 1. This media is a second copy as primary copy is on disk.

How would I go about deleting the images on this media?

How can I pull a report that shows if any of my tapes (offsite) contain these fragment errors? Is this possible?

Backups are successful, but not showing in Catalogue search

I need a solution

I'm running netbackup v6.5.4 against on a server 2008 r2 Standard SP1 physical box.

 

If I look at my job logs I am seeing completed jobs, but whenever I search the catalog no matter the options or date ranges it shows up empty. I've tried bouncing the services.

 

Hoping someone could offer some insight. If perhaps I have a corrupted catalogue or something.

I still can't take vm backup for some client inside vshpere 5.5,when job start i recieved the below error's

Catalog backup is getting fail with error code 24

I need a solution

Hi,

I have master and 2 media servers, catalog backup was configured with media server with tape library, catalog backup was failed with tape, so I have changed the change the storage to another media server with de duplication storage, it was also failed with ec24, I have checked the connectivity and restarted the master services also, but still it is failing with 24 (only 1 stream is getting fail, due to that the parent job is also getting fail, 3rd stream is getting )

any suggestion to fix this issue.
