We're running BE 2014 v14.1 Rev 1786. When I run Live Update it says there is one update available with total size 2122.8KB - "BE 2014 SP2 is coming soon to LiveUpdate!"
My question is what is this update, is this SP2?

I've got a report issue on NBU 7.5.0.4, running on Solaris. Tape library is an SL3000 with the Access expansion modules ( so very large CAPs)
When I run the vault, all the tapes go into the CAP, and the job completes with a status 287 (some tapes still in use).
However, the Picking List for Robot report shows that NONE of the tapes were ejected. The job log shows "0 of XXX tapes were ejected"
This is very confusing to our operations folks.
Anyone have any thoughts on why the discrepancy between the report and the reality.
Running BE 2010. I have a weekly B2D and a duplicate to tape right after it. I would like to schedule a copy of the original B2D in order to copy it to a different disk sometime prior to the next B2D run the following week. I am using "Duplicate Existing Backup Set" but am confused as to what to select from the "Selection list" pull down. How do I know what duplicate backup set #### to use?
I initially used the same one the duplicate tape is using, but the following week the duplicate backup set #### changed to something else.
Am I overlooking something or not setting this up properly? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Seth
Hi,
we have a symantec backup exec install with 2014 sp 1 and a HP MSL4048 with 2 drives. How do we have to configure the copy to tape job to write the source servers (8 physical windows 2012 Server) to both drives at the same time to shorten the backup window?
We can see the Changer and underneath it, we see both drives. Drive 1 and 2. Do we have to select the changer?
Best regards
EXACTLY the same issue as described at https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/backup-exec-2014-v-ray-edition-detects-6-cpu-instead-4
2 IBM 3550 M4 virtualization hosts with 2 six-core processors each = 24 cores
4 v-ray tier A licenses = 24 cores
BE2014 found = 36 cores
Backup server (not included on backup schedules):
1 IBM 3550 M4 backup host with 1 six-core processor
Symantec Support tried 'n' procedures and couldn't solve our issue.
We did a fresh install of BE2014SP2 and the issue remains.

We are runing BE2014 on Windows 2008 R2 with a single media server. The De-dup folder is on a NTFS partition with cluster size default to 4 KB of size 13 TB. It's limited to 16 TB max but we need to expand it over a new storage expansion of 27 TB.
So how can we overcome the limitation to create a new De-dup folder with total capcity of 40 TB without losing any existing backup sets?
occasionaly i have some failed backups
is it possible to set a differential backup so that when i restart the backup it doesn't start from start and recopy everything it copied earlier
Here is my environment -
Primary Data Center
1 Master server at primary datacenter - Windows 2008r2 Virtual running Netbackup 7.5.0.4 (yes, I will be updating quite soon)
2 Media servers at primary site - Windows 2008r2 running 7.5.0.4
1 DataDomain DD4200 at Primary site
DR Site
1 Media server at secondary site - Windows 2008r2 running 7.5.0.4
1 DataDomain DD4200 at seconday site which I use to replicate all backups to via SLP
We were previously using Veeam to just replicate the entire Master server VM to the DR site, but this is not supported and was taking too long, given our large catalog.
I'm looking into AIR, and either I'm not smart enough to understand how to use this option properly, OR if it's just really as confusing as I am making it!
I have created a secondary Master server at the DR site with its own IP, host name, etc. Where I'm confused is if I am supposed to be replicating the catalog itself to the new Master server at the DR site? Or, should I be using AIR/SLP to individually replicate each backup image to the DR site, and somehow repurpose the currently active media server at the DR site, to slowly build its own catalog database which recognizes it own Master server's host name?
You can probably tell from my question that I'm very lost, even digging through the documentation. I've reached out to Symentec, and was informed that they will only assist with break/fix, and not configuration. Do I need to reach out to their consulting services? Before I do that, I guess what I'm attemtping to figure out (based on our environment) is, what is the best method for having access to a catalog in the event of needed DR.
Thanks all.

Hi all,
For a long time I haven't been this forum.
I missed)
We have issue with backup speed performance.
environment
master/media server : Redhat 2.6 Netbackup 7.1
client: Redhat 2.6 Netbackup 7.1
Scenario is like this:
Yesterday according to the schedule : it started with ~100MB/s. On client and Media server's exist 10GB ethernet .
Today we tested by running manually that policy 5 times with interval 5-10 minute (stopping and rerunning)
1st time ~150MB/s
2nd time ~400MB/s
3rd time ~ 300MB/s
4th time ~ 450 MB/s
No stable speed. This is very irritating think.
We tested network speed by nfs and result is 350MB/s.
Any idea ?
Thank you in advance.

I have a 5220 with 2.6.0.4, I open a putty session on my windows 8.1 desktop and open the software share to upload a EEB. I cannot access the share through a UNC or mapped drive, any ideas?
Thanks

I just added in a new 5230 media server to replace an old 5200 and im having trouble figuring out how to migrate the two tape libraries over to it. Does any one know of a way to change the ownership of the robots so that the 5230 has control? Im not trying to change anything with the way they function other than who is controlling the robots.
I downed the drives and then moved the fiber to the new media server but all of the configs still show the 5200 as the device host.
This happens during an Oracle server rebuild scenerio. We are running Backup Exec 2014 on the same server as Oracle.
We first restore the server using SDR. No problems with that.
We inventory / catalog the NAS drive that contains our backup sets. We need to do this as the Oracle backup was done after the full image backup so the BE SQL database isn't up-to date and doesn't contain any info about the last Oracle backup.
The last Oracle backup that was done still doesn't show up in the Backup Sets (everything else does such as System State, C: & D: drive backups, etc.)
We run BEUtility and do a Repair Database.
The last Oracle Backup still doesn't show up in backup sets but we can now at least run an Oracle restore job and the backup shows up as being as being selectable.
Not a show stopper but something that needs to be fixed.
Hi
We are looking to get additional Backup Exec 2012 remote agent licenses for additional servers that need protection however a trawl through the web suggests that i can only get 2014 licenses - will these work with 2012 can somebody confirm or does anybody know where we can buy addtional licenses ?

I created a SSR boot disk from the Surface Pro 2 successfully, I have also successfully booted to the SSR disk from the Surface pro 2, but the SSR recovery program is unable to find a network adapter. I am currently connected to the Microsoft Surface Pro 2 Dock which has the network adapter within it. What do I need to so to get the SSR to detect the Network adapter for the Surface Pro 2 Docking station?

Hi,
NBU 7.5.0.6, RHEL6.
we've recently started to recieve nightly emails with the subject "netbackup catalog change successful." We get a LOT of them. Every morning we get one for each of the last week or two's worth of catalog backups; at a glance it is identical to the "netbackup catalog backup successful" report we get after each catalog backup.
Jan 5 at 5:41, netbackup sent me 18 individual emails. Jan 6 5:41, 10 more. Jan 7 5:41, 5. Jan 8, 10. jan 9, 8. etc. This is not a mail system problem; postfix logs show netbackup is sending them each morning.
I haven't analyzed specifically which days we are sent which logs,
My catalog backup policy specifies that 3 copies are made of each full catalog backup: 2 to tape, and 1 to disk. 2 copies made of each incremental, 1 tape and 1 disk. Presumably importantly, the disk images expire after 2 weeks (tapes 3 months/1 year).
I see discussion of the "new feature" here: http://www.symantec.com/connect/forums/netbackup-catalog-backup-change-successful-started-showing
Unfortunately there's no solution listed there.
Help, i'm drowning in spam. Worse, my boss is complaining.
thanks!
Hi,
I have created a media set and would like to edit the AP and OPP for the same. could you please help me with the navigation on how to do that ?

Hi All,
This is my very first post and I really do hope you can help since we have been at it already for 12 hours.
Is there any way to backup an IP-less DAG?
We have a new Windows server 2012 R2 Exchange 2013 cluster without CAAP/CNO and BE2014 SP2 but no joy.
Any help would be appreciated.
Tnx. T
Proposal
Would it be possible for Symantec to provision a "log stripping tool" that can be utilised to automatically remove server and IP information from logging information.
We need log stripping tool to be able to clean up Log files & specifically the NBSU output to enable us to send required logs for troubleshooting, this needs to remove server names & IP addresses. Currrenlty when we have to send files for NBSU we have to manually remove all server and IP information, delaying the sending of the files across for interrogation.
Benefits
The provision of a log stripping tool would greatly reduce the time taken to get logging information across for interrogation in relation to production issues. Meaning a quicker turn-around for production issues which in turn brings a hight customer satisfaction.
Other Info
EMC provide a clean up tool for logs they require and the process of getting required files across is much quicker and a far less manual process.
