restore folder issue
I need a solution
Hi All,
I am doing a MS WINDOWS restore. But on the destination client ,one folder is extra created.
I mean source path is: E:\user_data\bank\
When i perform the restore on this client: destination comes like : E:\user_data\bank\bank\
E:\user_data\bank\
under bank i have 3 folders in BAR .I am selecting bank folder from the LEFT PANE.
What is the issue here?
OR is there any fundae /rule for this?

Access denied V-79-57344-33928 when backing up Server 2012 R2 Active Directory with GRT

Hello,
I am unable to backup Active Directory with GRT enabled after upgrading AD servers to Windows Server 2012 R2. GRT backups of AD worked fine when the servers were at 2008 R2.
Configuration:
- the server being backed up is running Windows Server 2012 R2 with Backup Exec agent 14.0.1798.1364 (2012 SP4 agent)
- the Backup Exec server is Backup Exec 2012 with SP4 installed
The following error occurs when backing up System State on the AD server:

By experimenting with different backup options, I found when just the GRT option is turned off just for the Active Directory backup, the System State backup works fine. So, the problem seems specifically with trying to do a GRT backup of Active Directory system state information on Server 2012 R2.
The advanced option file option is enabled and set to automatic, and all VSS writers on the AD server report a healthy state when checking "vssadmin list writers".
Has anyone else encountered this?

tape drives not in use

i hav total of 6 tape drives, 2 robots, 1 master n 2 media server control tape drives.
STU's: master-tld1,master-tld0,media1-tld1,media1-tld0,media2-tld1,media2tld0
max concurrent write drives as 2 in all storage unit.
none of STU is on demand, 2 STUG -- STUG1(master-tld1,master-tld0),STUG2(media1-tld1,media1-tld0,media2-tld1,media2tld0).
storage unit group is mentioned in SLP for duplication.in STUG media server load balancing is selected
enable unrestricted media sharing for media server is 'ON' -- on master server,maximum partially full volumes is set at 7 for volume pool which have duplication media.tape drives r up. only 1 tape drive active from STUG1 and 1 from STUG2.It should be 6 tape drives active\writing\duplicating data simultaneously. 2 from STUG1 and 4 from STUG2. ON LIFECYCLE_PARAMETERS. line exist TAPE_RESOURCE_MULTIPLIER 3, restarted ltid processes on both media servers as well.
nbrbutil commands to find orphaned drives , orphaned media but got nothing from command output.
GUI log says: drives are in use in storage unit. No drives are available on STUG1 and STUG2
my tapes drives r being under utilized and duplications take long time .plz help

VMware recovery hangs for long period of time
I need a solution
Experiencing a problem during our disaster recovery test. While restoring VMware backups, I'm kicking of a restore from the media server using the GUI. I select the VM to restore, point it to my vCenter server, then select "Alternate Location" since I don't have all my ESX servers at DR and also need to select a different data store. After clicking "Next" after selecting the alternate location, I get an hour glass for about 30 minutes before moving to the next screen, where I then select the vCenter server to restore to, folder, datastore, etc. The restore then runs to completion and everything is fine, just trying to figure out how to resolve that 30 minute delay. I've taken all media servers not present out of the bp.conf on the master server (also the media server for this particular restore), verified DNS is fine between the vCenter server, consildated backup server, and master/media server, etc. The master/media server is running 7.6.0.1 on Solaris 10, all clients are also running 7.6.0.1.

Move data from LTO2 ta LTO4
I need a solution
I am running B. Exec 2010 R3 Rev. 5204 on my new server #2
I have LTO-2 tapes that were created on server #1
I would like to move/duplicate/copy (whatever the terminology is) the data from an archived LTO-2 tape to an LTO-4 tape on server #2.
I would like to have the new LTO-4 tape "MAINTAIN the ARCHIVED DATES" of course....rather than newly assigning todays date to the old data.

Restoring Exchange IS to Disk
I need a solution
Greetings.
I am a network administrator for a small manufacturing company. Our company is currently being proactive in response to possible legal inquiry (note: "inquiry".... not "investigation"). Part of our efforts include setting aside the full backup jobs that were conducted just prior to a specific incident by which we expect to be questioned.
We are currently using BUE 2010 v13.0 rev 5204
We have these full backups on LTO tape.
We do not want to restore them back to the live Exchange Server... there is no need for this.
What we're hoping to do is restore the full backup on the Exchange IS to an arbitrary physical network share; where the Exchange EDB can then be browsed and searched by third party tools without disturbing our live Exchange IS data.
Using the Backup Exec restore function, we know that FILE backups can be redirected out to an arbitrary network share (so that they do not disturb the existing share from which they originally came). Exchange backups seem to be a different matter altogether. The "Microsoft Exchange Redirection" menu does not seem to include a function where the Exchange IS data clearly restores out to a network share. Rather, if I click on "Redirect Exchange Sets", I can only restore to a server (assuming this means an existing Exchange server), or a DAG. We do not want to restore to either resource.

What might I be able to try?
Does "File Redirection" override "Exchange Redirection"?
I don't want to assume that I can redirect away from our live Exchange IS, when nothing clearly indicates that I can do this.

While partitioning robotic library only showing 8 slots
I need a solution
We are using DELL powervault 124 T Autoloader. we have just replaced this autoloader due to mechanical issue. old autoloader having 16 slots and 7 library partition and 10 backup job associates to these partition. Before replacing autoloader everything is working properly.
With new autoloader, we are unable to redirect old bakup jobs to new library. when we try to partitioning library it shows only 8 slots, other 8 slots are not showing.
Please help us.

Does anyone know the format of a -Bidfile?

I am trying to run a replication using nbreplicate. The command I am sending is nbreplicate -Bidfile bidfile -slp_name slp -cn 1. In the Bidfile I have 10 images listed one per line:

The command will process the first image and then bomb out on the second with a 227 Image not found. If I edit the file and remove the first image it will then process the second image (which is now the first in the list) and then bomb out on the third. It is almost like it can only process the first entry bvecause there is no continuation character or something.

I need a solution
My goal is to use optimized/shared deduplication to replicate server backups between my two sites and be able to restore those backups and local backups during a vpn failure or site failure. If site A is down, I want to recover site A servers to site B. If site B is down, I want to recover site B servers to site A.
SO I am thinking of caso, but is bidirectional replication is possible for CASO.
In my test environment I tried to share both dedup storage. I am able to replicate from A to B but not from B to A.
When i tried to do it from B to A the shared dedup storage A showing Paused at B site.
SO CASO support bidirectional replication/ duplication.??

Restore Job Taking Longer than Usual
I need a solution
Good day Everyone,
Currently I have an issue about a restore that's now taking about 3hours+ which is longer than before as 1hour+. Can anyone teach me what are the best practices or tuning to be done to address the issue?
Below is the log on BAR GUI that confuses me. Even if the files are restoring to different location.
