Dear Concen

Good day. symantec DLO have ofline backup and restore option .When users are offline, the Desktop and Laptop Option will backup files to a local folder accessible to users for restore. Once connection is restored, data will be moved from the local file to the network share. But if we can backup  files from skydrive or google drop box etc through DLO ,i think this feature add more value.

if remote user lost their laptop can retrive last data which store before laptop stolen.

thanks uttom

Questions about upgrading BackUp Exec 2010 R3 w/SP2 to SP3

I need a solution

I have a BackUp Exec 2010 R3 Server (w/ SP2), running on Windows 2008 R2 Server (w/SP1).   The Windows Remote Agents for the server are on version 13.0 Rev 5204.

Currently this BUE server is used to backup an Exchange 2010 RTM server.   There is now a business requirement to upgeade the Exchange 2010 Server to Service Pack 3, so I have a few questions about the BUE requirements that go along with this upgrade.

1.  The Remote Agents are running on two Windows 7 hosts, and two Windows 2008 R2 w/SP1 hosts.   Will the Remote Agents need to be upgraded, when the BUE 2010 Server is upgraded to SP3?  If so, does the upgrade of the service agents require a full system reboot of the machines the agents are running on?

2.  During the upgrade of the BUE Server from SP2 to SP3, will the Windows 2008 R2 Server the BUE 2010 server is running on require a reboot?

3.  If the Exchange 2010 Server is upgraded to SP3, before the BackUp Exec 2010 R3 server can be upgraded to SP3, what are the ramifications of the BUE Server attempting to backup the Exchange 2010 Server w/SP3 before the BUE Server has been patched to SP3?

Is it possible to restore a windows 2003 SBS system state and data (specifically the active directory), which was backed up using Backup exec 12.5.

On a 2008 r2 Machine using Backup exec 2010?

The remote procedure call failed SSR 2013 during virtual conversion

I need a solution

I'm trying to restore a SSR image into an ESX/ESXi server.
I continually receive "the remote procedure call has failed" error when running the virtual conversion process.
The error occurs even if I try to convert the file to a .VHD for recovery into hyper-v.

Event Viewer Error:
Faulting application VProSvc.exe, version 11.0.1.47662, faulting module VProImaging.dll, version 11.0.1.47662, fault address 0x005b01f0.

I've tried running the virtual conversion process on Windows 7 Professional and a Windows 2003 Server box, but receive the same error.
I am in the process of verifying the recovery points; I am able to mount them and restore data so I don't believe there is an integrity issue.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what the issue might be?

Netbackup 7.0.1

Windows Server 2008 R2

Within the Device Monitor is a column called Control and within that column I have 2 types of statuses, 1) RESTART 2) TLD. and when I click on the TLD I get a list of drives/tapes(?) that say the same thing. What do I need to do to get these drives ACTIVE so I can utilize all my tape drives.

Tell me what additional information you  require to assist you with my issues.

Virtual Machine backups fail when GRT is not enabled

I need a solution

Hi,

I have an issue with my virtual machine backups that I need to resolve. I am using Backup Exec 2012 SP3 to protect about 10 VMs running on ESXi 4.1.  The issue I have is related to non-GRT backups.

I do not wish to enable GRT for my VM backups, I am only interested in getting a basic VM snapshot backup, however if I do not enable GRT in the backup job settings, the job fails with the following error:

Completed status: Failed
Final error: 0xe0009541 - Could not connect to the vCenter server or ESX server. Please verify the credential supplied for login.
Final error category: Resource Errors

This error message would appear to be a red herring because if I enable GRT in the backup job settings, the job runs.

I backup GRT-enabled data with separate jobs and I do not therefore need GRT enabled for my virtual machine jobs.

Why does the virtual machine job fail when GRT is not enabled?  Backup Exec runs under a domain user account that has full Domain Admin privileges on the network, and Administrative rights in vCenter.

Any help would be apprecaited.

Thanks,
Steve...

I need a solution

Hi,

Appreciated if anyone can help me out.  I am running a media server 12.5 (SP4).  I need to add another server - Windows 7 with oraclelite running on it.  I read from compatible list for 12.5 that win 7 is not supported.

Can I installed remote agent on this server and backup all neccessary files? Or any patches to support Windows 7?

Thank you.

I need a solution

Hi all,

I will appreciate your help since not an expert with Backup Exec.

Backup Exec 2010 R3 v13 Rev 5204 fully updated

Backups were working fine and suddenly started to fail with:

Final error: 0x000fedd A failure occurred when trying to access the object list

Backup - System?State

V-79-57344-65245 - A failure occurred accessing the object list

Exceptions:

Backup - System?State

The item System?State\System Files\System Files in use - skipped

Troubleshooting steps:

As per what I've found online I have restarted BE services, make sure there's enough space on HDD (92GB) and also I enable logging in BE remote agent.

The logs around the time the error has been reported are:

Backup Exec 2012 No Maintenance Contract found after BE reinstallation

I need a solution

Hi,

We had our BE 2012 with SP2 in workgroup and working fine. We also purchased DLO so we planned to install it but it required to be a domain system so we joined our BE 2012 server in a domain and also changed our hostname (previous one was windows default set computer name during OS install). And installed DLO. After that we had problem in starting our BE 2012 services. So we uninstalled and reinstalled the BE2012.

During reinstallation it showed applied license information which we could not remove. Installation went smooth and BE 2012 services are starting fine and working fine. But it shows "No maintenance contract found " .  Also we have applied two .slf files during initial install (very first time during BE installation) which includes base product and additional two years maintenance contract license.

Kindly guide me to make it correct.

Backup Exec does not see all resources on remote server

I need a solution

I have installed the Backup Exec Remote Agent on a new server running Exchange 2013.  When I attempt to create a new backup job, I navigate to Domains > Active Directory Domains > "Domain name"> "Server Name".

However, when I expand the the server to see the resources, it only shows a shared folder stored on the server.  There are no drive letters, no other resources.

I am currently using Backup Exec 10d. The server is a virtual machine running on an EXSi 5.1 server.

Steps I have attempted:

1. Installed the remote agent directly from Backup Exec by going to Tools > Install Agents and Media Servers on other server.

2. After noticing the problem listed above, I rebooted the server to see if that would correct this issue.

3. Uninstalled the agent.

4. Copied the RAWSX64 folder and placed a copy locally on the server needing backed up.

5. Used the command line to install the remote agent.

6. Problem still appears.

Any thoughts?

Backup Exec 2012 Licensing Woes

I need a solution

I just can't sort it out try as I may.

Every time I read another document about licensing I end up with a different price.  And these have ranged from 3k per year to 9k!

-------------------------------------------------------------

I have the following:

1 - W2K8R2 - Backup Exec 2012 Server - Will not be backing up.

1 - W2K8R2 - SQL Server

1 - W2K8R2 - Exchange 2010 Server

1 - W2K8R2 - File Server

2 - W2K8R2 - Domain Controllers

-------------------------------------------------------------

I figured I would need:

1 BE 2012 Server License

2 Client for Applications and Databases

3 Client for Windows

The License Assessment tool showed a requirement for 8 licenses.

I'm just looking for affirmation on my client licenses.  If I am wrong and there is something more to it, please elaborate.

Thank you in advance!

System Recovery 2011/2013

I need a solution

Hello all,

I am just curious we are about to upgrade Symantec System Recovery 2011 to System Recovery 2013, and I was curious if the recovery points that we made with 2011 are compatible with 2013? Namely, if I was to do a full restore of my H: drive with System Recovery 2013 and it was made using System Recovery 2011, would it fail because of the differences (if there is any) between the two? Would things such as permissions or other granular recovery items be missing for some reason cause they save differently? I am just getting as prepared as possible for the switch.

Thanks in advance,

Andrew

I need a solution

I just upgraded from 6.5 to 7.1 and now my status of backups report is not showing the results for all the policies. It only shows the status of the catalog backup for some reason. Before I upgraded everything was working fine. I opened a ticket with Symantec but they could not figure out the issue either. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Netbackup 7.5.05

If I backup Oracle using an RMAN script, why am I not able to browse the individual files for restore? I need to be able to browse and choose the files I want to restore, but I am unable to. However I can restore the entire backup using the RMAN script.

thanks,
