How to Take backup of Exchange 2013 IP less DAG

I need a solution

Hi,

Please let me know how to configure the backup for exchange 2013 DAG where there is no virtual interface face or the ip address for the DAG name. in this senario what will be my client selection and backup selacti in policy?

Netbackup version 7.6.0.3

OS RHEL 6.5

Exchange 2013

OS Windows 2012 R2

Netbackup 7.6.0.3 clients are installed on all exchange mailbox server

if we configure the individual mailbox server as a client and respective DBs in backup selection which that client holds, it works fine.

how do I protect Exchange 2013 where the DAG has no virtual IP?

I need a solution

Hi,

i was working on NBU 7.1 and came up with below  contradictions:

1...how i can run my SQL policy backup from master server ?? i have default application schedule in the policy and no backup selection.

2...i have 5 drives attached to a media server A. drva,drvb,drvc,drvd,drve...I want to dedicate a special drive  (drve)  to one of my  clients backup.What can I do ?

3...when user is running a restore from his end.OS FS windows restore..user is getting the " permission error"..what to check here?

4....i have 100 media in the scratch pool stil; backups are failing with error 96..i have checked the densities...

5..i have configured msdp dedupe..now how to configured clients/policies to use this MSDP?

Backup exec. 2014 V-ray Tire A and tire B licenses

I do not need a solution (just sharing information)

I have one client who has 1 V-ray tire A license installed but the maintainace has expired, they want to renew this one and also add and additional tire A license, but there has been a mixup some where and the we ordered tire B licenses, my question is can we renew the tire A by upgrading it with one of the recived tire B license ?

Java Console is not working

I need a solution

Hello Experts,

We rebooted our master server and after that 2 issues came up. No more changes were done.

1:- Java console is not getting opened either on master or client, laptop etc.It hangs in reading netbackup configuration after that it opens only BAR gui not acceptatble.

2:- Scan -changer is returning only below information

E:\Program Files\Veritas\Volmgr\bin>scan -changer

*********************** SDT_TAPE    ************************
*********************** SDT_CHANGER ************************
************************************************************

I doubt there is some issue with UAC in windows server. It is on 2nd level default notify me only programs try to make changes to my computer.

Is it creating issue?

Backup exec vss provider

I need a solution

Hi,

 Could someone tell me what is the function of "backup exec vss provider" ? How does it benefit the backup process ?

It is set to manual in the services of my virtual machine (windows server 2008 R2) ?

When I try starting it, it complains about " The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion"

Hi

Q1: I would like to ask if what license does  File server or NDMP data server  backup need or consumes.

Q2: Does it use RAWS license even if agent is not installed?

I used BELAT.exe but it is not that accurate.

Hope you can clean my thoughts on this.

Deduplication

I need a solution

I try to create deduplication storage, but there is an error during confiiguring storage.

Before I reset password for dedup account. and try to run spauser.exe.

And get this:

Error: 67: Database: connection to database crdb at localhost:10085 failed (FATAL:  database "crdb" does not exist)

I need a solution

Hi All,

How i can run my SQL policy backup from master server ?? i have default application schedule in the policy and no backup selection.SQL dba are running the backup from the client end from the script.They have NBU policy details,client name,master server b\name ...etc in the script.

Users are running their backups with above settings.

I need to run the backup of this SQL policy  from master server...Do i  need to add the automatic schedule in SQL policy ? thats it?

VTL for NDMP only: How to reclaim space on the Data Domain?

I need a solution

We have a DD4200 with OST and VTL.  The VTL is for NDMP only, the VTL Drives are connected to the Backup Accelerator Device connected to the EMC ISILON NAS.  I tried quick erase but seeing as the media server doesn't really control the tape drives. it failed.

How can I reclaim space from the VTL tapes on the DD4200 if we only have NDMP drives?

Backup server not available after windows update 09/12

Hi all,

Since last tuesday patch my backup server 2014 wich is running all jobs correctly is showing an issue wich is the following:

In the bottom bar if i go be services i get server not available and i can't anything regarding the services, but if o fo windows servives mmc all BE services and also enterprise services are also runnig. Once again i say i have all jobs working only the BE service windows can't connect to server. Also the BE main console when openning i have to insert the credentials to login to BE console, but everything works.

External SAS storage array on BE3600 R2

I need a solution

I've been using a BE 3600 appliance for a couple of years now and I keep running up against the deduplication store filling the internal storage array. I'd like to attach an external storage array with more disk and move my deduplication store onto the external array. Since SAS is way faster than USB I'd prefer to utilize the external SAS connection that is currently laying fallow. Does anyone know if the SAS HBA supports external disk arrays in addition to tape devices? I know that many years ago I ran up against a parallel SCSI adapter that would only support tape devices, ignoring any disks attached, and I'm hoping that's not the case here. I've been unable to locate anything in the appliance documentation that states if this is an option. The adapter installed is a LSI SAS2 2008 Falcon Storport.

Also, if anyone has done this and has a recommendation for an external array they're pleased with, I'm open to suggestions.

Backup Exec 2012 Agent Licensing

I need a solution

We have one Backup Exec 2012 Server in our infrastructure with 9 Agents for Windows installed.  This is an environment that I have taken over and there is little documentation at this point as far as the licensing is concerned.  After inventorying our servers it turns out that we have 14 servers running the BE Windows agent but I am not seeing any errors being generated on the BE server that we are overdeployed on agents.  How does the BE server handle and police the Windows agent licensing?  Is there a way to determine which of our servers are using the 9 installed licenses we have and which ones are not? Even though we have 9 licenses, only two of our 14 servers are actually being backed up by BE right now.  If we have the agent installed on 14 servers, then I would imagine that we are over-deployed by 5, but the BE server doesn't appear to be picking up on this.  My goal is to be compliant and either buy more licenses or uninstall the agent from the 5 servers that really aren't reporting into the BE server.  I just can't determine at this point which ones those are.  Would greatly appreciate anyone's assistance on this.

I have a be 2012 setup with hp 4048 tape library..
The medium changer is set to unknown as per symantrc best practice.. however even after i have installed the symantec tape drivers it still shows up as hp under device manager.. is that correct ?

I need a solution

BE 2012 setup.. msl 4048 library with 2 lto 4 tape drives.. windows 2008 r2 media server.. one of the tape drives show as hp lto 4 ultrium drive whereas the 2nd tape drive shows hp ultrium 4-scsi. I have installed the symantec drivers so confused as to why 1 is showing as hp 4-scsi drive.. the same library and drive is zoned to another media server also win2k8 and both drives show up in device manager as hp ultrium lto4 drives.. any idea why hp 4 scsi ?

Dear Team,

We followed the sap administration guide for configuring the sap oracle backup (without RMAN). we able to start the backup from client side through brbackup command, but not able to start the backup from netbackup side. when i start the full backup manually, it took only the script file not triggered the database backup. please help us to take the backup.

Symantec BE problem with Tape Drive

Dear  Team,

I had an issue with syamntec backup exec 2012:

1. SBE can not compress the backup when the cartridge and tape backup capabilities we already support for 
   compressed backups up to 1,6TB
2. Can not overwrite the cartridge so we had to reformat the cartridge if we do backup , 
   but with tools inherited from the NT backup server 2003 has been able to do these two issues

Tape Backup:  built in IBM HH LTO Gen 4

Cartridge Backup : IBM LTO4 PN 95P4436 800GB uncompressed/ 1.6T compressed

tape content display

I need a solution

hello!

I need a report that display the tape content, in terms of saved file and not of backup image. This is not the same thing because these backups are huge and a single backup image resides on several LTO6 tapes.
