I need a solution

Hi All,

Long time backup into NBU.

I have 30 media servers in my environment including SAN media servers.

Now my query is how i can see or differentiate between SAN media servers and Core media servers(network clients backup).

When i go to HOST PROPERTIES----MEDIA SERVERS----I see all 30 media servers.

Now how i can filter it or command line to check only my SAN media servers or core media servers.i mean what all are my SAN media servers and what all are my other media servers without logging onto that MEDIA SERVERS.

Thanks

I need a solution

HI ALL,

I have 3 NIC on my client.

one for prod ,one for backup and one for storage.

when I run ipconfig/all,i have below nic and ip

lon100      10.1.200.36

lon100-bck  10.1.200.37

lon100-stu       10.1.200.40

Now when I run bpclntcmd -pn from client,Which nic's IP will go to master server for query?

nbu 7.1

solaris

bpclntcmd -pn
When the -pn option is run on a NetBackup host, it initiates an inquiry to the NetBackup master server, and the master server returns information about the requesting client to the requesting host.  The information returned is, in effect, how the master server "identifies" the requesting host.  The client contacts the first server listed in its servers list, found in the bp.conf file on UNIX/Linux clients (the SERVER= lines) and in the Backup, Archive, and Restore GUI, under File - Specify NetBackup Machines and Policy Type on a Windows client.

Bpclntcmd identifies the server replying to the request (the "expecting response from" line), and then it displays the information returned from that server.  The following is an example of the output of the bpclntcmd -pn command:

> bpclntcmd -pn
expecting response from server master_server_01
client_01.domain.com client_01 192.168.0.30 3815

In the above example:

- The master server is "master_server_01"
- The connection name (peername) is "client_01.domain.com"
- The configured client name is "client_01"
- The source IP from which the connection originated is 192.168.0.30
 - The source port used to connect is 3815.
The master server resolved 192.168.0.30 to "client_01.domain.com".  The FQDN was not configured as a client in any policy, but the shortname "client_01" was present.

If the output showed *NULL* for the configured client name (as shown below), the client is not configured in a policy and does not show up in the image database.

> bpclntcmd -pn
expecting response from server master_server_01
client_01.domain.com *NULL* 192.168.0.30 3815

Review the policy configuration on the master server, and see if the peername is listed correctly in a policy.

I need a solution

Hello!

We are using Backup Exec2010 R3 with be2896R344584_64bit_348105 patch on Windows Server 2008 R2 Standart.

After instalation of BE we are facing a problem: there are many error messages in Server Manager logs (Diagnostics - Event Viewer Windows Logs - System) :

bescreen.png

which have the following view:

bescreen2.png

All the messages have the same text and differs only in the name of the service which cannot be started

After the deinstallation of BE errors are not shown anymore in Server Manager

We have installed HP Service Pack for our server but it didn't make a difference

What can be the source of our problem?

Regards, Murat Boziev

I need a solution

Hello All;

I have a evry big trouble and need to your help to get rid of this headache...

I have a Backupexec and it has a HP P2000 deduplication storage. My Backupexec can backup all servers in its own subnet to its deduplication storage and there is no any problems.

When I attempt to backup a file server in a remote office, backup process is interrupted about 9 minutes later. It says

The job failed with the following error: Incorrect function.

Job ended: Monday, April 21, 2014 at 11:51:50 AM
Completed status: Failed
Final error: 0x1 - Incorrect function.
Final error category: Other Errors

Click an error below to locate it in the job log
Backup- \\MYFS01\D:V-79-57344-3850 - The media operation was terminated by the user.

Storage device "Deduplication disk storage 0001:6" reported an error on a request to write a media location identifier (file mark).

Error reported:
A device attached to the system is not functioning.
V-79-57344-34036 - An unknown error has occurred.

It says a device attached is not functioning but no there is no any devices not funcitioning. My backupexec can backup other servers in its own subnet by the same job config...

I watch the device and media processes via debug monitor and it gives following error messages:

I've uninstalled and reinstalled BE Agent on my Fileserver, nothing changed.

I've wiped my deduplication storage (so I lost all my previous backup sets); nothing changed.

I repaired my Backupexec, nothign changed.

I changed NDMP port, it caused additional problems, I took it back. So it didn't fix the problem.

both server under same network and have normal file copy speed of 34/36Mbps from one server to anohter server but if i use this backup software and copy it in a LTO 3 tape speed becomes 1MB/Minute.

is it because of the trial version or any other issue? attached is the speed of data backup.

I need a solution

We are using NBU 5230 Appliances (NBU 7.5) at Primary site with AIR to replicate the Oracle database images to the remote NBU 5230 Appliances (another NBU domain) using SLP.

The primary job completes successfully (shows 16GB size). The replication job completes as well but with only tiny amount of data i.e. 25K and it completes in only 15sec.

When we are try restoring the database at remote site, we are unable to see the image available for restore.

Can you suggest what might be the problem....?

On each Media Server ensure that Program Files\veritas\netbackup\db\config\ exists (it doesnt by default)

in that directory create two files with no extension called SIZE_DATA_BUFFERS and NUMBER_DATA_BUFFERS

Open then using notepad and in the SIZE one put 262144 and in the NUMBER one put 32

Save the file (Making sure notepad doesnt add .txt on the end)

No need to re-start any services they take immediate effect next time you run a backup.

If you back up to disk you can use similar ones - just create another two files with _DISK on the end, you can use the same value for the number but a good value for the size for disk is 1048576

Hope this helps

BE to QNAP slow

I need a solution

I've setup the iSCSI Initiator and all seems fine and looked great even the tests went well. Come in and see it has backed up 400GB of 2TB in 82 hours at 221 MB/min. (deep breath and sigh)

I do know our system has 8GB memory and is currently using abour 4GB so that seems fine. It appears our incremental ran successfully, but with a different setup and destination than the QNAP. I looked at our WMware Data Recovery screen and it shows it is doing an integrity check. Could either or both of these cause this issue?

Offsite Job

I need a solution

Hi,

When running an offsite job, the job is cancelling automatically with the following error:

The job was canceled because the response to a media request alert was Cancel, or because the alert was configured to automatically respond with Cancel, or because the Backup Exec Job Engine service was stopped.

The Backup Exec job Engine service was not stopped so for sure the reason is not the BE engine service.

Any help??
