I have oracle server which is in cluster with two nodes, active and passive. I configured policy with cluster name. When i checked the client property of the clustername, it shows the client name as node2.But when i start the backup it failed with sc6. I tried the db backup with only node1 in policy,it was success.But i am changing the clientname in the script and initiating the backup for node2, it failed again with sc6. And the script output file shows below.Also attached bphdb log.

I believe the oracle instance is not here in node2 and it is active in the node1. Even i checked with oracle dba he confirmed node1 is active. But the client propery of the clustername displays the clientname as node2 that means activenode is node2. Confused.

FlashBackup policy restore error(2814)

I have a Windows 2008 server with BE 2012 installed. 

The current date format of the server is mmddyyyy and customer would like to change it to ddmmyy. 

Will this change impact the way jobs are configured in BE ? Do i need to make any changes after the settings are changed at the OS level .

We have mixed drives, LTO4 and LTO6 in the same library. LTO4 have one density (HCART3) and LTO6 a different density (HCART2).

All the LTO6 drives are mapped to just one media server. Now the question is: Can I have both types of tapes on the same Volume Pools? I mean on the Scratch, Netbackup, and Ironmountain pool for example.

For what I have read, I'm assuming no LTO4 drives will try to mount LTO6 tapes because of the different density, right? The only storage unit that will try to mount the LTO6 tapes is the one associated with the media server for the LTO6 drives (the only storage unit with HCART2 Density).

Is this correct or do I need to keep the tapes in separate Volume Pools?

Just a small question about BackupExec 2014 installation:

- Is now possible to install backupExec 2014 on a Windows 2012 R2 with the Hyper-V role installed?

Just asking because before, when you install Backup Exec 2012 on Windows 2012 R2 with Hyper-v the virtual machines did not start with an error about "...vhd corrupted data..."

BE 12.5,  I am no longer able to select the net share, it is grayed out, this process was working without issue a month ago, no changes to the config on BE Server and NAS.

I am also not able to connect to a user defnied share by IP number. The same NAS device (DX1) is used as the backup to disk folder, and this works.

• The "Enable selections of User Shares" has always been enabled.
• Windows Firewall is disabled on the BE Server.
• Beremote.exe, white listed in AntiVirus.
• User and Pass are working, Domain Admin level.

I have a weekly full backup and daily differential backup policy that is backing up 5TB+ to tapes. The problem i am having is that even though the weekly full backup completes successfully, my differentials continue to run as if a full backup. Both jobs are the same policy and selection list.

Any ideas what im doing wrong here?

I installed SSR 2013 R2 on a 2008 R2 server trial version (Awaiting delivery of key). All went well with the install however once I run through the SRD wizard in "typical" mode which located all drivers, the wizard shows 0% progress and no activity after 15 minutes. Task manager shows app as running and I see no indication of it being "hung", just no progress. What gives?

I'm running NB 7.6.0.3 on Solaris 11 x86 OS.

When I restart NetBackup nbatd silently dies. In my messages log I see "Dec  9 10:27:48 wayback nbatd[17474]: [ID 702911 user.error] V-18-24591 Broker has mismatched keypair".

Searching the net, this forum and the documentation I cannot find any way to fix/regenerate these key pairs.

Any ideas or is this a job for symantec support?

This is not an emergency, my backups are running fine. I'm just trying to set up a trusted relationship with another master server.

I am working on revising/consolidating some of our NetBackup policies.  I would like to have a handful of our high-priority Linux systems in one policy, however each server has a different selection list.  For example, Server1 only needs /d01/app backed up, but Server2 needs /d02/app.  As I browse the servers in the New >> Browse window, I can pick which directory I want backed up, and the server name is shown in the selection list as "Server1:/d01/app" and "Server2:/d02/app." When that policy runs, it generates failure messages stating that "Server1:/d02/app" was not found (because it doesn't exist).  Backups complete of the selected directory.

Is there a way in the backup selections list to specify the intended directories per server?  Once I choose the intended directory on the server, the selection list just shows the directory name ("/d01/app") and seems like it looses its relationship back to the specific server.  I have tried the NEW_STREAM directive, hoping it would help, but alas, it has not.

Is there some special syntax I need to use to specify each server and its intended directory within the selection list, or do I need to stick with an individual policy per server?

Currently on BE 2012 SP1 on Win 2008 R2 - D2D2T (no de-dupe).

I need to get to at least BE 2012 SP3.

Looking through the forum, I'm led to believe that it's best to steer clear of BE 2012 SP4.  Or have there been some subsequent hot-fixes that have resolved the issues that others originally had with BE 2012 SP4?

I would like to ask if aside from OPP,APP and partitioning is ther any additional setting that I can apply to protect my tapes

from being use by another media set.

1. Can I configure that if daily tapes are inserted to a monthly partition, it will give us alerts? (Is this features available before)

2. Any additional settings that i can configure?

Or can I not partition my Power Vault Autoloader but still assign tapes to be use as weekly or monthly.

3. Im using barcoding, can I assign a barcoded tape to be use only as weekly tape?

Is this features available before because I was told by my boss that this can be done in his old company.

                I  installed the remote agent on Windows Server 2012 R2 using Backup Exec 2012 SP4 on two of our servers.The backup is running fine for one of the server but the other server gives an error " Client Side Deduplication is enabled for this job but could not be used.So, i would like to know that Backup Exec 2012 with SP4 is compatible for installing Remote Agent in Windows Server 2012 R2 or not. If it is compatible then why it is giving this error.

I am trying to add IBM TSM backup monitoring in Netbackup Ops Cneter. I am using Netbackup Ops center 7.5.

I am struck with first point

 Install TSM client on OpsCenter Agent Host (The OpsCenter Agent Software can also be installed on the TSM server depending on the Operating System. Please refer to NetBackup (tm) 7.x Operating System Compatibility List for OpsCenter supported OS/platforms - See Related Articles section below)

Do i need to install Opscenter Agent in TSM master server if yes please give me the link where i can download the agent.

I was using Live update from last week, Our NBU is on latest 761FA and pushing 761 through Liveupdate.

Someclients are failing liveupdate for different reasons, after fixing the problem I dont see a restart option in activity monitor. This is making me to go back to liveupdate policies clear all clients and add only this client and run live update policy. ofcourse there are things which make this job easy like CLI, internal policy client modifaying but I was thinking.

Can we have options like

1)Restarting a liveupdate job by right click on jobid in activity monitor.

OR

2)In live update policies have an option on choosing clients for which we can only run live update.

we plan to buy the Symantec Backup Exec Capacity Edition for 5 TB of physical Server-Data. Now we have two questions

1) Will the Capacitiy Edition include the dedupe-option? So that we are able to use features like OST/DDboost?

2) How are B2D-backuped data copied to tape? Dehydrated or will the data be transferred compressed/deduplicated like on disk? I need an answer for that to size the tapes amount.

I need help. Yesterday all backup job (File servers, MS SQL, Exchange and etc..) on Deduplication folder stuck in Backup Scan operation. At the same time job on Backup to disk folder goes normal.

My Enviroment:

1) Windows server 2008 R2

2) Backup exec 2014 SP1 

3) One Deduplication folder (7 TB)

4) Backup to disk folder (10TB)

What i`m try:

1) Disable/ pause Deduplication folder;

2) Reboot server and services;

3) Recreate Job. When i`m change backup device from deduplication to backup to disk job run normal.

4) Repair/ Rebuild/ Check Database

5)  Change location Catalog and Job Log

6) Repair backup exec installation (when run install BE server i`m choise repair)

7) I`m try run restore some file from deduplication folder and restore goes normal,

8) All Hot Fix installed
