We had a BE 2012 install running for a couple of years now with no issues. Yesterday I foolishly applied SP4 after installing a new HP D2600 disk enclosure and it just stopped working.
Before the SP4 install a single file test backups to the D2600 ran ok, as did a full backup.
Main system is 2008R2 with 3 hyperv virtuals on.
After SP4 a test full backup just sat there preprocessing and never starting.
I installed the extra hotfixes after SP4, still not working. Tried to create a new backup job and the selection list just sits there with the circular icon spinning.
uninstalled and reinstalled BE2012SP3, same issue.
repaired BE, .NET, same issue
manually uninstalled all components (SQL, .net, full uninstall of BE) restarted server, full install again, same issue.
I get the same hanging if I try to deploy the remote agent to a virtual server. The Progress bar is blank and never changes.
It's as if the software just can't, or doesn't want to, communicate with any server, even itself.
Account password is ok as all services are starting ok.
Ran the MS .NET testing tool, found no issues.
Totally run out of ideas.
Any suggestions?
I currently have a system that can't be backed up.
