Unlike backup exec 2010, deleting job from backup exec 2014 happens on the fly. I have been using backup exec for the last 10 years; however, jobs getting deleted by mistake have happened only twice and on both the instances from 2014.
On the first instance, I deleted one job template from job monitor; however, the entire job with 46 templates got deleted.
Second time, as a matter of fact, i edited the media set of one template, however, the entire job with about 40 templates got deleted. I could have done some mistake; however, I cannot recollect deleting at all.
In 2010 when we delete a job, it will ensure that there is no policy or selection list attached to it.
I would request you to revisit the deletion process and bring in constraints to ensure that backups are not deleted easily.
You might think that nobody has reported this issue yet. Yes, if it is a job with couple of templates, recreating the job will make sense than to waste time and report to you.
Would appreciate if you could take it seriously and make the necessary change on the product.
