Tape Properties being erased by BE 2012

I have just started using BE 2012 and despite it being completely different it has some good features. However one if these seems to be that it removes the Media Description entries when it uses the backup tape; for example we have our Media labelled when we first use the tape but we also add a description such as 'Daily Tape 1' and so on for our media sets.  Just wondered if this is happening to other sites using the product? We use a HP MSL 2024 drive for our backup to tape.
