Greetings,
I have a Windows Server 2008 R2 Central Admin server running Backup Exec 2012 R2 (14.0 rev 1798) (Service Pack 4 with Hotfix 215906). I have a server 2003 Enterprise 64-Bit system that is currently being backed up by an old Backup Exec 11D server. Last night I de-installed the 11d agent from the 2003 Server, and then tried to push the Backup Exec 2012 agent to it, and got an error 1603 when I tried it (zipped log attached). I tried a few things:
1. I rebooted the server and tried again.. no avail
2. I downloaded the windows installer cleanup utility and ran it. There were no "leftovers" of an agent in the list.
3. I tried cleaning out old symantec entries in the registry. Still the same error.
4. Each try I tried both pushing the install, and running the setupaax64.cmd from a local copy downloaded from the media server.
I checked, the server has DotNet Framework 2.0 SP2 installed. And I was very hesitant to try to de-install as the application running on the server (older version of Oracle) can be a little touchy.
When all was said and done, I was able to re-install the old 11d agent without any issues.
I was hoping that someone from Symantec may have some other ideas of things to try.
Thanks,
Clif
